The AI Soap Opera Unfolding

This morning my LinkedIn feed was filled with drama over Elon Musk's bid to purchase OpenAI for more than $100B....

I first saw the news via a CNBC clip where a reporter had caught OpenAI founder Sam Altman hurrying off to a meeting, seeming to dismiss the offer as simply a ploy to slow them down.

To catch everyone up, Elon initially invested in OpenAI and now runs a competitor X.ai and now they are all bickering and trying to buy each other out. Oh, also China recently introduced a way-cheaper and better ChatGPT competitor and now everyone is scrambling. Altman famously told a group in India that there was 'no way anyone could ever catch up...'

OpenAI will never sell ChatGPT for $100B. That price would be way too low - especially after the US Govt just helped broker $500B project "Stargate" that mostly has funds earmarked for OpenAI. Meanwhile, 100+ of SpaceX and Tesla's best engineers have crawled and downloaded all of our government systems and identified patterns of interest.

Wait, what is actually going on here!?

Alexa, order me some popcorn I want to binge watch this one.
